On 16 May 2019, Enabel signed a 2.5 million euro grant agreement with GIZ to strengthen local authorities and create economic opportunities for all people in the refugee-hosting districts of Arua, Adjumani and Mojo in Northern Uganda.

This grant is part of the RISE programme implemented by GIZ: Response to Increased demand on Government Service and creation of Economic opportunities, co-funded by the European Union and Germany.

The objective of the 22-months project managed by Enabel is to facilitate people’s access to coordinated qualitative and labour market relevant skills development.

Through the existing Skills Development Fund (SDF), implemented in the framework of the Support to Skilling Uganda Programme – funded by Belgium, Ireland and EU – Enabel will work in the three targeted districts, focusing on vocational training delivery and on economic empowerment and self-reliance of refugees and host communities.
