Brussels, 14 July 2022| Enabel and the Initiative for the Adaptation of African Agriculture to Climate Change (AAA) signed a partnership protocol. This agreement should allow the two organisations to work in synergy and to pool expertise for their climate activities.

The Initiative for the Adaptation of African Agriculture (AAA) aims to reduce the vulnerability of the African continent and agriculture to climate change. It was launched by the Moroccan government in 2016 during the COP 22 in Marrakech. It brings together 38 countries, including Morocco, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, DRC, the Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal and Tanzania.

Enabel has signed this protocol to strengthen its actions in the fight against climate change in the agricultural sector in Africa. This includes fostering South-South cooperation on climate change (including governance and advocacy) and developing a shared vision and effort on climate change adaptation in agriculture in Africa. Technical meetings are planned in the coming months to identify points of synergy and specific actions.
