In Burkina Faso, Enabel is supporting the health sector, the security sector and Private Sector Development.
Enabel supports Burkina Faso’s response to the crisis by financing the government’s rapid response team and awareness-raising campaign.
The rapid response team is tasked with monitoring the spread of the epidemic, tracing contacts and taking tests from suspected cases. Enabel also provides support to the healthcare system and communities to prevent contamination. Also the diagnostic capacity is enhanced.
Furthermore, Enabel will help with dispatching medication to remote areas and has purchased two ventilators for hospitals in Ouagadougou and Tenkodogo.
Because the virus also heavily impacts the economy, Enabel will also support that sector. To address the shortage of protective gear, production workshops are prospected with a view of producing appropriate equipment. This is a way of creating employment, strengthening the local response to the epidemic and supporting the local economy. Also, incinerators are built to safely and efficiently discard medical waste.
Enabel, finally, also supports local law enforcement services in their community policing work (wearing of protective masks, social distancing, etc.).
