Because of the emergency situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Enabel reorients all of its interventions efforts in Guinea towards Covid-19 response actions. These actions particularly target the Conakry, Mamou and Kindia axis.
The activities of the Belgian governmental cooperation in Guinea target agricultural, urban and women’s entrepreneurship and promotes sexual and reproductive rights (She decides). These programmes have now incorporated specific actions to address the ongoing pandemic: raising awareness and distributing masks, hand sanitiser and hand-washing kits...
The Sanita Villes Propres project, funded by the European Union, which collaborates with the urban municipalities of Conakry and Kindia to professionalise waste management, now assists these municipalities in their local response efforts. Enabel is putting in place a series of training sessions with NGOs that raise public awareness on social distancing and other preventive measures. Also, awareness-raising materials and hand-washing kits are distributed.
The Integra project, which is also funded by the European Union and which aims to reintegrate return migrants and to provide lasting social and professional insertion opportunities to youths in Guinea, organises awareness-raising campaigns to inform on social distancing and also delivers health protection material.
In the next few weeks, the other municipalities in Enabel’s intervention axis will also receive such support.
