Investing in sexual and reproductive health and rights for resilient societies

Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are essential to human dignity and a foundation to sustainable development. Ensuring access to comprehensive SRHR services generates powerful ripple effects that extend far beyond individual well-being – driving improved health outcomes, reducing inequalities, and fostering societal change.

Investing in SRHR is also highly cost-effective : every dollar invested yields a return of $3-$7 in healthcare savings, while simultaneously saving lives, advancing gender equality, and supporting long-term economic growth. In a world grappling with complex social, environmental, and economic challenges, SRHR stands out as both a lifeline and a catalyst for building resilient, inclusive communities.

Enabel’s SRHR framework advances this vision through four strategic pillars: strengthening maternal health, expanding universal family planning, eliminating sexual and gender-based violence, and enhancing access to SRHR services for adolescents and youth.

These pillars, our double pronged approach to implement them and further strategic recommendations are detailed in the following position paper.
