Rights, equality, empowerment: International Women’s Day 2025
The year 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark commitment to gender equality and women’s rights.
Despite significant progress since 1995, persistent challenges and growing backlash against gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights highlight the need for renewed advocacy and vision. As we look ahead, it is essential to reaffirm our commitment – one that is enshrined in Belgian legislation and in European norms and international conventions to achieving a just and equitable future.
On March 8, we captured the aspirations of Enabel directors for gender equality in the next 15 years, and placed them in a time capsule.
In a symbolic act, we then buried the time capsule, to be unearthed in 15 years – reminding us that real change takes root over time.
At Enabel, gender equality is not just a goal—it’s a lasting commitment we will keep revisiting.
